The University of Denver is continuing its quarterly Munch Week tradition between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9. DU Programming Board (DUPB) is offering many different options throughout the week for food, desserts and everything in between. No matter what day you choose to partake, food will be completely free of charge and all DU students are encouraged to pick up something from various locations.
Starting off on Monday, DUPB will be providing Bonnie Brae Ice Cream to prepare for Hockey Night Lights. Bonnie Brae is a local, independently owned ice cream parlor located on Gaylord St. It’s been a staple of Denver ice cream, as well as the culture of Wash Park and surrounding neighborhoods, for over one hundred years. Bonnie Brae has multiple flavors such as triple death chocolate, amaretto peach and Snickers delight to highlight a menu filled with options for flavors, cones and other kinds of ice cream based treats. Bonnie Brae will be serving delicious ice cream on the Campus Green from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.
On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Duffyroll will provide baked cinnamon rolls at Dan’s Garden. Also founded in Denver, Duffyroll has established three locations so far and is quickly becoming one of the city’s most sought after local spots for their beautifully crafted cinnamon rolls. Whether you prefer sweet or savory, Duffyroll has got you covered with plenty of options for both. Duffyroll will be available between 9-11 a.m.
For Wednesday, Oct. 7, Auntie Anne’s will be provided on the Campus Green from 4-6 p.m. Although not founded in Denver, Auntie Anne’s pretzels have been a staple of American snack cuisine for almost forty years. They make for a perfect on-the-go snack, and are perfect for a student hastily crossing campus to a class, or for those who just want to eat delicious baked goods.
On Thursday, Oct. 8, Wafflerita will be provided from 4-6 p.m. on the Carnegie Green. Founded in Quintana Roo, Mexico, Wafflerita has a unique take on the waffle experience. After taking a trip to Thailand and eating similar street food, the founders brought the idea of a waffle based snack on a stick back to Mexico. Eventually, they expanded internationally, now providing services in Denver. Wafflerita is a creative take on a classic breakfast food and are sure to delight any who choose to partake in this week.
To round out the week, calm your digestive system with some free drinks from Travelin Tom’s Coffee. Whether you prefer your coffee black or with plenty of sweet additions, Travelin Tom’s has plenty of options for any kind of pallet. Featuring both warm and cold beverages, Travelin Tom’s offers a litany of choices to satiate your thirst on Friday Oct. 9 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on the Campus Green.
Whether it be ice cream or a delicious waffle on a stick, DU’s Munch Week is sure to excite any prospective eater throughout the week. Visit any of these locations at the given times for food, friends and delicious experiences to celebrate the upcoming DU hockey season and recharge from a long week of midterms.
