On Sept. 23, 2025, former Vice President Kamala Harris released her memoir “107 Days,” detailing her historic 107-day presidential campaign.
In her book, Harris shared what she saw and learned during her campaign which started when former President Joe Biden withdrew from the race on July 24, 2024 and immediately endorsed Harris as the Democratic Party candidate.
Harris was selected as the nominee for her respective party on Aug. 1, 2024 after a multi-day, virtual roll call. She then accepted the nomination on Aug. 22, 2024. She lost the presidency to President Donald Trump on Nov. 5, 2024 with 226 electoral votes and 48.3% of the popular vote.
Harris described the process of writing “107 Days” as “living the campaign in reverse.”
To celebrate the release of her book, Harris went on a fifteen-city book tour starting in New York on Sept. 24. She is also planning on continuing to promote her book in London and Toronto.
The first day of the book tour was met with protests from individuals advocating for Palestine. In response to the protestors, Harris stated, “I was not President. I couldn’t make the decision, but I made my position clear.”
Although Harris describes having a harmonious connection with Biden, “107 Days” discusses difficulties with the former president before and during her campaign. Harris wrote that he had refused her help until the infamous June 27, 2024 debate at CNN’s Studios in Atlanta, Ga.
Before her Sept. 24, 2024 debate, she received a call from the former president informing her that his brother was told she was “bad mouthing” him and that a number of power brokers were threatening to not support her campaign for the presidency.
Harris also revealed that Pete Buttigieg, former United States Secretary of Transportation from Indiana, was her first choice for running mate. She didn’t go through with this selection as she didn’t feel that the country was ready for both a Black and South Asian woman and a gay man on the ballot. She ultimately selected Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, for his charm and background as he was a former high school teacher, football coach and veteran. He also had success in passing legislation for better access to reproductive health, paid leave, child tax credits and gun safety.
Harris’s opponent, President Trump, labeled her a “D.E.I. Hire” and spent time questioning her race and mispronouncing her name during his campaign. Harris called Trump to concede on election night and he complimented her and her name, despite his inappropriate use of it.
