what went right
Junior Sophia Bergner and sophomore Elena Najera went 1-0 on Saturday at the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championships at Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Bergner and Najera defeated UCSN Jennifer Sher and Sabrina Man-Son-Hing to claim this victory in the prequalifying doubles round of 32. Bergner also went 2-0 in singles against Wisconsin’s Nicky Stracar and Nebraska’s Stefanie Weinstein on Saturday in the prequalifying singles rounds of 64 and 32, respectively.
what went wrong
Bergner fell 6-4, 6-1 to Long Beach State’s Anais Dallara in the prequalifying singles round on Sunday. Bergner and Najera were defeated by William & Mary’s Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans 8-1 in the prequalifying doubles round.

what went right
In their first Moutain Pacific Sports Federation game this season, the Pioneers had 22 shots against Air Force (6-2-1, 0-0-1 MPSF) and 11 shots on goal Saturday night, compared to Air Force’s nine. Junior keeper Maté Aguirre recorded nine saves during the shutout, and junior midfielder Drew Beckie put four of five shots on goal.
what went wrong
Neither team was able to score, leaving the final score at 0-0 after double overtime. Several players came close to scoring, including a header by Beckie that arched just over the crossbar with 4:36 left in the first overtime.
