Hockey honors five WCHA Scholar Athletes

The DU hockey team honored five players last weekend for excellence in the classroom. The honorees included seniors Jesse Martin, Chris Nutini and Kyle Ostrow, and sophomores Shawn Ostrow and Paul Phillips.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) developed the WCHA Scholar Athlete award in 2005. In order to qualify the player must complete at least one year of residency, and must average at least a 3.50 grade point avergage on a 4.0 GPA scale for the previous two semesters or three quarters.

“It is a great honor and these players should be extremely proud of their accomplishments,” said proud head coach George Gwozdecky.
