T.A.T.U. is a Russian group that is trying to make it in the United States. The female duo just released its latest album Dangerous and Moving. The album features a nice blend of electronica, rock and pop, without much of the darker side that is prevelant on their previous album. The album’s hit song, “All about Us” is a catchy tune that even the most casual fan will enjoy. Much like the group’s previous hit, “All the Things She Said,” “All about Us” has an irresistible melody created by the girls who sing in coordination. Combined with the sound of soft instruments and computer enhanced work, the single is great. The rest of the album is on par with “All about Us.” The title cut of the album, also featured as an introduction, is absolutely amazing. T.A.T.U. creates a synthetic sound that most would only expect from professional DJs. If anyone likes a moderate amount of electronic work with their rock, this album is for them. The only negative side to the album is the softness of every song. Although many songs are upbeat, none include any large guitar riffs or any heavy industrial sound. Nonetheless, songs like “Perfect Enemy” and the Russian “Obezyanka Nol” will please fans. Although T.A.T.U. may not be as heavy as many of other popular foreigners such as Chumbawamba and Rammstein, they certainly live up to their popularity. It is highly recommended for any music fan looking for a taste of international rock.
