what went right

The Pioneers topped Louisiana-Lafayette last Wednesday, behind a strong performace from senior Kaetlyn Murdoch who recorded 23 points.  The team extended it’s win streak to six games, while freshman Morgan Van Riper-Rose added 16 points. Freshman Jordan Johnston also tied her career high with 14 points, and grabbed seven rebounds. Redshirt junior Morgan Shell put up 10 points and took control of a game-high eight rebounds. Junior Emiko Smith also recorded nine points, five rebounds, nine assists and five steals.

On Saturday, Van Riper-Rose recorded a career-high 20 points for the Pioneers. Smith also added 14 points, and Murdoch chipped in 10 points and five rebounds. Despite the loss, the Pioneers still managed to stay in the top position in the SBC West.

what went wrong

The Pioneers fell to Middle Tennessee Saturday, who is in 1st place in the SBC East. DU allowed the Blue Raiders to remain undefeated in conference play (10-0) and better their record to 19-5 overall. DU allowed them to have four players score in double figures, led by Kortni Jones with a 20-point performance. DU allowed the Blue Raiders to outrebound them 34-25, the score to be tied six time and eight lead changes.

The Pioneers travel to Florida to take on Florida Atlantic on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Florida International on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. They finish the season hosting Louisianna-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas.
