Intra-staff fender bender
On Thursday, April 6, at 10:20 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a traffic accident in parking lot 112. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU staff member driving a university owned vehicle was backing out of a parking space when he struck a DU staff member driving a university owned vehicle. Minor damage and no injuries were reported. Risk Management will be notified.
Liquor, not pot
On Thursday, April 6, at 10:39 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Nelson Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed nine underage DU students were in possession of alcohol. There was no drug paraphernalia in plain view. The residential assistant disposed of the alcohol. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Dubious equipment
On Friday, April 7, at 1:20 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in the 2400 block of South Gaylord Street when he discovered a box mounted to a bicycle containing irrigation equipment. The unaffiliated party who owned the bicycle was interviewed. Campus Safety and Denver Police Department investigations are ongoing.
Secret shower-taker
On Friday, April 7, at 11:36 a.m., a DU staff member reported a suspicious person in the HRTM building. A Campus Safety report revealed an unidentified party has been seen bathing in the restroom on several occasions between February and April. Campus Safety completed a report.
Seizure in dorms
On Friday, April 7, at 2:35 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of an ill party at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student had a seizure. Paramedics determined the student did not require medical assistance. Campus Safety completed a report.
Public restroom
On Saturday, April 8, at 3:34 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in the 2500 block of East Asbury Avenue when he noticed a student urinating in public. Denver Police Department transported the student to a detox facility for medical treatment. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Suicidal student
On Saturday, April 8, at 11:45 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a suicidal student at Johnson-McFarlane Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student made alarming statements to another student. The student reported he did not intend to harm himself or anyone else. The student was referred to the counselor on call. Campus Safety completed a report.
Waller ballons popped
On Sunday, April 9, at 2:35 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in the 2000 block of South Josephine Street when he was told that three males were throwing water balloons from the roof of a nearby building. One of the suspects was identified as a DU student. The student admitting throwing water balloons but he denied anyone else was involved. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Indecent exposure
On Monday, April 10, at 11:16 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of indecent exposure at John Greene Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU staff member witnessed an unidentified male trying to gain access to doors and windows. The male proceeded to expose himself to the staff member. The suspect fled prior to Campus Safety arrival. A Campus Safety investigation is on going.
Stolen Car
On Wednesday, April 12, at 5:30 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in parking lot 306 when he was contacted by an unaffiliated party. The party reported his vehicle was taken from the lot between Tuesday, April 11, at 9:43 p.m., and Wednesday, April 12, at 5:30 a.m. Denver Police Department responded and completed a report. Campus Safety and Denver Police Department investigations are ongoing.
Touchy termination
On Wednesday, April 12, at 1:45 p.m., Campus Safety was requested to be present during an employee’s termination. The employee was terminated for creating a hostile work environment. The employee left without incident. Campus Safety completed a report.
Money manipulator
On Tuesday, April 11, at 4:42 p.m., a DU staff member reported an attempted theft at the DU bookstore. A Campus Safety report revealed on Monday, April 11, an unaffiliated party attempted to fraudulently obtain money from the cashier by exchanging smaller bills for larger bills. A Campus safety investigation is ongoing.
Garage graffiti
On Thursday, April 13, at 7:35 p.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol when he discovered vandalism in parking lot 125. An on-scene investigation revealed a storage shed belonging to the university had been spray painted with graffiti. The damage occurred between April 12 at 10:30 p.m. and April 13 at 7:30 p.m. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Plowed parking meter
On Saturday, April 15, at 6:40 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in parking lot 306 when he noticed vandalism to a parking meter. An on scene investigation revealed someone had knocked the meter over on its side. A DCS investigation is ongoing.
