What on earth happened to

Colorado sports? The Glory Days when the Broncos made the playoffs every year. The Rockies actually making the playoffs, let alone the world series. The Avalanche being a contender for the Stanley Cup year in and year out. The Nuggets being the scar on the face of Colorado sports.

Now, the Broncos are sub-par. The Rockies are back to their last place selves. The Avs are also managing a last place effort.

The Nuggets are now the glory of Colorado sports, clinching yet another spot in the playoffs. What happened?

We are in an alternate reality. A reality where a Nuggets ticket costs more than an Avs ticket, and the Broncos are having trouble filling the seats.

It truly is one of the greatest phenomenons in the history of sports. If you think about it, the Nuggets have been the most dominant team in Colorado the last decade.

The being said, we are all in a strange way “band-wagon” fans, even more so than Boston Red Sox fans. Well maybe not that bad. But seriously, think about it. Denver was disgusted with the Nuggs. We gave up on them a short time ago and here we are selling out the Pepsi Center daily.

We all had hoped the Nuggets could turn it around one day. That day is here and we better be thankful because for the recent past and the near future the Nuggets are the face of Denver sports. No longer the scar on it’s face.

I, for one, find it hard to like pro basketball. The season is long and tedious, the playoffs are overbearing. But what choice do I have? The Nuggets are my only hope.

We now have to make ourselves sit in front of the TV, watching something we do not like or understand asking ourselves, “Why did the ref blow the whistle for that dude standing in the key?” Even further, “What’s the key?” Hang in there Denver. We will survive this depression.
