The Clarion needs your help.Every week we run a special feature on our editorials page, called Pioneer Voices.

For any of you who don’t know Pioneer Voices allows DU students to speak out on a variety of issues. Every week the editorial staff decides what question to ask. These questions cover a variety of issues some serious like questions about immigration or the state of the union and some silly like why do you think we are having such nice weather so early in spring.

But the question we have is, does this format work? Do you read it?

We ask because we have been getting very mixed feedback about Pioneer Voices.

Some people love to read all the answers people give. Some people feel as though it is a poor representation of the student body because many of the answers indicate that few at DU read a newspaper or have any coherent opinions on what is going on in the world at large.

We also want to know because many people refuse to be a part of Voices when they are asked for their opinion.

Some people don’t want their name in the paper, some people don’t have an answer and others don’t want their headshot in the paper.

So the question is what do you want? Here are your options:

1) We keep Pioneer Voices but without headshots. Everything else would be the same, one question a week and you get to hear other students’ voices. The advantage to this is we will have the space to run more quotes because the pictures take up a great deal of space.

2) We do Pioneer Voices without the pictures and have students ask the questions.

3) We stop doing Pioneer Voices and have no feature with student opinions.

If we stop doing Pioneer Voices we would do something else instead. We are not sure what we would do but something else, with a new name and format. We would love your suggestions.

4) We keep Pioneer Voices as it is with the pictures but we have students come up with the question of the week.

5) We keep Pioneer Voices exactly the same.

What would you like to see happening? We would love to hear your opinions. Feel free to combine options. Let us know what you want to read. Please e-mail ideas to the editors in chief,

Jessica Slosberg at jslosber@du.edu or kathyrn Mayer at kmayer@du.edu or duclarioneditorials@yahoo.com

We look forward to hearing from you!
