The women’s golf team are veterans when it comes to playing in the NCAA regional, but when it comes to the team itself, they are quite young, with only one senior. The Pioneers played in their fifth consecutive NCAA regional this past weekend in Auburn, Wash. and finished 16 out of 21 teams.

DU shot a 21-over par 309 in the final round of the regional and finished with a final score of 80-over par 944 behind first-place finisher Purdue, who finished with a 17-over par.

Junior Emily Hoeper led the Pioneers throughout the tournament finishing in 40 place overall and turning in a 15-over par, 231, with scored of 78, 75 and 78.

Finishing in 59 place for DU was freshman Jessica Yam, who shot a 4-over par 76 in the final round en-route to a three-round score of 19-over par, 235.

Following was freshman Katie Kempter with a 23-over par 239, freshman Sara Djos with a 23-over par 239 and freshman Dawn Shockley with a 28-over par 244.

The Pioneers earned the bid to play in the regional after winning their third straight Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Denver has a very bright future as they will only lose one senior and have many talented freshman that are ready to put their experience to use next season.
