“This campus has a very strong Jewish presence. It’s around 20 percent Jewish, and in the world there are so few Jews so it’s nice to have that community especially when holidays happen like Passover.
“I felt like more of an insider and less of a minority than usual because of being able to share religious holidays with others.”
-Jamie Kippur, sophomore, marketing major
“I am Catholic, and I participate in most of the events for Catholics on-campus.
“I definitely feel that you have the freedom to express your religion on-campus at DU. I feel that overall I have had a positive experience.”
-Caitlin Shea, junior, marketing and Spanish major
“Although I don’t really see religion present on campus, I feel that personally, religion affects certain decisions that I make.
“Concerning DU as having a friendly environment for religion, I think that the DU community is very open-minded and accepting of different religions.”
-Nick Schlag, sophomore, business major
“Well, religion on campus doesn’t affect me because I wasn’t brought up religious and I don’t really have any religious affiliation.
“However, I think teachers, especially at a private university, should be allowed to address anything in their classes, including religion.”
-Bill White, sophomore, international studies major
“I know that there are activites around the DU campus I just don’t get involved in them because I am not pushed by family members.
“I really think that religion is a family issue, and when family is not around it’s harder for students to get involved in religious activities.”
-Tyler Grubb, sophomore, engineering major
“I have been raised Catholic and went to a private Catholic elementary school and high school, so now that I am at DU I haven’t particpated much, but still keep my faith.”
Morgaen Hoxsey, sophomore, HRTM major
