Carlie Field, elected by the class of 2010 to be a freshman AUSA Senator, hopes to get to know more people from her class and help resolve issues that may come up in during the year.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to represent the class of 2010. I’m not really sure what it holds but I’m excited about the opportunities it opens up for me and the first-years,” said Field.

Field participated in student government all four years of high school and held the student body president position during her senior year at Lakewood High School in Lakewood.

As a student senator at DU, Field wants to be involved with the school, her peers and the administration.

She will be required to hold two office hours a week and be on either the finance or student organization committees.

“I was very nervous to run because I didn’t know very many people when I came here,” said Field.

She tried to meet as many people as possible during her campaign and will continue to meet people throughout the year.

By talking to other freshmen, Field hopes to find out what they like and don’t like about DU.

“Since we’re all so new to this school I think a lot of us don’t know what is good or what is bad,” said Field. For now, she wants to simply, “keep the dialogue open” between herself and her fellow freshmen.

Field is a biology-chemistry major with a minor in leadership and possibly Spanish.

She wants to attend medical school and become a pediatrician because she enjoys working with children.

In the past, Field has volunteered as a soccer coach for 4 and 5 year old boys. She wants to start volunteering at a local children’s hospital.

Field is part of the Pioneer Leadership LLC in Johnson-Macfarlane Hall and is a member of the honors program.

She has also joined the club Ultimate Frisbee team and wants to start a female club Ultimate Frisbee team.
