Car jack attempt
On Friday, Oct. 13, at 7:10 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an attempted carjacking in the 2200 block of E. Asbury Avenue.
Officers on-scene determined that, upon exiting her vehicle, an unaffiliated female had been confronted by an unidentified male who demanded her car keys. The female fled the scene and was assisted by a passerby. Denver Police was notified as well. A Campus Safety and Denver Police Department investigation are ongoing.
Coins swiped
On Friday, Oct. 13, at 6:42 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a vending machine break-in at the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management Building.
Custodians reported that a coin-operated vending machine in the ground floor women’s restroom had been pried open and its coin contents removed. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
The magic dragon
On Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of the smell of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls.
The officer on-scene determined that an underage male student resident had been drinking and smoking marijuana. Stolen city property was also recovered from the student’s room. The office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Lost on campus
On Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2:08 a.m., a Campus Safety officer contacted an intoxicated, unaffiliated adult male in the 2500 block of S. Josephine Street.
The officer on-scene determined that, due to the individual’s level of intoxication, he had become disoriented and could not find his way home. Denver Police responded and transported the individual to detox for medical assistance.
Detox fieldtrip
On Sunday, Oct. 15, at 12:53 a.m., a Campus Safety officer contacted an underage, intoxicated, unaffiliated adult male on the south lawn of the Shwayder Art Building.
Due to the individual’s level of intoxication, Denver Cares was summoned and transported the party to detox for medical treatment.
Puff strikes again
On Sunday, Oct. 15, at 1:32 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of the smell of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls. The officers on-scene contacted seven DU students who admitted to have been smoking marijuana. An article of drug paraphernalia was also confiscated. The office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Hookah bar fight
On Sunday, Oct. 15, at 2:45 a.m., a Campus Safety officer observed a disturbance emerging from the Pita Jungle restaurant/hookah bar located in the 2000 block of South University Boulevard. While awaiting Denver Police, the Campus Safety officer observed a large group of people congregating outside the establishment apparently as the result of a fight that had just occurred inside. The Campus Safety officer on-scene also rendered medical assistance to an unaffiliated Hispanic male who received a cut on the neck during the fight. Denver Police and Denver Health Medical arrived and took charge of the investigation and scene.
Honor code broken
On Monday, Oct. 16, at 10:15 a.m. a DU staff member reported a DU honor code violation. Campus Safety completed a report. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Penrose theft
On Monday, Oct. 16, at 11:12 a.m. a DU student reported a theft at Penrose Library. A Campus Safety report revealed on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m. the student left a handbag unsecured and unattended in a common area. She returned several minutes later and discovered the handbag was missing. The student was advised she could file a report with Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Drunk dude
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 1:02 a.m. a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol near parking lot T when he observed a party who appeared to be intoxicated. An on-scene investigation revealed the party was a DU student. Denver Cares was unable to respond. Campus Safety officers escorted the student to his residence. The student’s roommate agreed to look after the him and contact Campus Safety if he required assistance. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Penrose theft 2
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 1:41 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft at Penrose Library. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student left his personal items unsecured and unattended in a common area at 1:30 p.m. When the student returned approximately 10 minutes later, he discovered his wallet was missing. The student was advised he could file a report with Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Coins jacked again
On Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 8:14 p.m. a DU staff member reported a theft at the Driscoll Student Center.
An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown removed coins from a vending machine in a public restroom. The theft occurred between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Rocking the ganj
On Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11:27 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed five DU students admitted using marijuana and were in possession of contraband. Campus Safety confiscated the contraband. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
