What Went Right
Sophomore back-up goalie Zander Buteux stepped up against Syracuse, playing three quarters and recording 17 saves after the a dreadful first quarter for the Pioneers. Sophomore Alex Demopoulos scored a combined six goals in two games, while freshman Cameron Flint scored a combined five goals over the weekend.
What Went Wrong
The Pioneers defense and goaltending could not contain either opponent last weekend. The Orangemen scored eight goals on their first 10 shots on goal, which put DU down 8-2 after the first quarter. On Sunday, DU led 8-4 at halftime, but allowed the Dolphins to come back in the second half and take a 12-11 before the Pioneers tied the game at 12 as regulation came to an end.

What Went Right
The Pioneers snapped a 10-game road losing streak with their win against UNO. In addition, DU has now surpassed its win total from last season. Freshman Chase Hallam scored a career-high 19 points on Saturday, while senior Nate Rohnert grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds.
What Went Wrong
Not much went wrong for the Pioneers last week, they handled two of the their conference’s weaker opponents. Free throw shooting was a problem against UALR.
Up Next
DU plays its final two games of the regular season this week. They travel to South Alabama on Thursday and come home to host Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday.
Women’s Basketball (10-6 SBC, 15-12)

What Went Right
DU was able to get to the free throw line a lot in the second half against UNO, which allowed them to pull out a close win. Defensively the Pioneers played solid in both games.
What Went Wrong
Denver’s offense struggled in the second half against conference leading UALR last Wednesday. In Saturday’s game, the Pioneer offense had a tough time getting started, scoring just 23 points in the first half.
Up Next
The Pioneers close out the season with a road game Wednesday night against South Alabama. They return home to play Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. Both games will determine DU’s seed in next week’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
