G. Love and Special Sauce performed at the Boulder Theatre last week for a sold out, enthusiastic crowd.
G. Love and Special Sauce is made up of lead singer, guitarist and harmonica player G. Love (Garrett Dutton), stand-up bass player Jimi Jazz (Jim Prescott) and drummer Houseman (Jeffery Clemens).
Singer and guitarist Tristan Prettyman opened for the trio.
Prettyman’s folksy and mellow tunes kept the audience calm.
The Boulder Theatre is a historic theater that has a general admission section up front near the stage with standing room only and balcony seating.
The general admission section was filled with dancing fans and marijuana-smelling air.
Some songs the band performed included Baby Got Sauce, Dreamin’, Cold Beverage, Rodeo Clowns, Kick Drum, Stepping Stones, Booty Call (new), The Pussy Song, and 4:20.
The crowd was grooving and singing along all night with the upbeat tunes of the group.
G. Love dug the crowd.
He interacted with audience members by making jokes between songs. He cracked that his 4:20 song was dedicated to the day of April 20th.
The band played two long sets. Both Jimi Jazz and Houseman performed solos.G.
Love will be coming out with a CD this August and soon after go on tour.
