The Something of Value Committee, a division of Greek Life, had its first meeting recently at which members decided to have each DU sorority host at least one dry event every quarter.

The committee was formed at the Something of Value Conference in the winter quarter. The conference, aimed at leaders in sororities, focused on risky behavior on campus. The conference asked women to identify specific problems and then come up with plausible solutions. An example of a problem is the use of fake IDs at sorority functions by the women and their guests.

The use of fake IDs creates a liability for the sorority and members. One solution that conference participants came up with was to implement a system in each house with a list of names and ages of each person attending the event.

The committee that was created after the conference is comprised of at least two members from each sorority. The women have already curbed the use of fake IDs at events.
