The DU Environmental Team sponsored this year’s Earth Day celebration on Driscoll Lawn. Last Tuesday was national Earth Day. DU’s event provided awareness about the environment to the school.

Along with the DU Environment Team, other organizations that had booths included Mile High Youth Core, the Sierra Club, Center for Environmental Citizenship, Community Action Program, Recycling Services, and the Pioneer Leadership Program.

Each organization gave out information about what it does to help the environment. Organizers also gave away free stuff to people who were interested.

A Toyota Hybrid, a gas-electric car, was exhibited to show community members the alternative to gas-run cars. A DJ played in the background to give students entertainment.

Cindy Robinson, president of the DU Environmental Team, mentioned other events DUET has done this year. These events include America Recycles Day in the fall and a recycling movement to get people aware of where to recycle on campus, which was held in the winter. DUET works with Pioneer Leadership Program to inform students about recycling on campus.
