Newman spring concert
This weekend, the University of Denver will present the 35th annual spring concert titled “RainDance” in the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
The internationally-acclaimed Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble will present four performances of two legendary pieces, Alvin Ailey’s “Escapades” and Milton Myers’ “RainDance.”
Also, world-renowned New York-based choreographer, Christopher Huggins, will feature his world premier of “Nine Ninas,” a tribute to the late international singer Nina Simone.

Pueblo textile exhibit
The University of Denver Department of Anthropology is sponsoring an exhibit called “Modern Art from Ancient Looms: Perspectives on Pueblo Textiles,” running through this Friday.
The exhibit explores perspectives on Pueblo weaving and textiles, featuring pieces from the University of Denver Museum of Anthropology and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
The exhibit is located in Sturm Hall, room 102 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Daniels philanthropy
Daniels Scholars Network is hosting a 3-on-3 soccer tournament to take place on Driscoll Lawn this Friday, April 29.
Groups will form co-ed teams of up to five people.
Cost for the event will be $30 to sign up and all proceeds will go to benefit the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Games will run from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and food will be provided courtesy of Anthony’s Pizza and Chipotle.
DSN will also have a band perform at the event.
DSN’s goal in holding the tournament is to promote diversity on campus and create a support network for University of Denver students.
The organization has an active membership of over 20 students and often participates in philanthropy and other community related involvement events.
Nazi symbols lecture
For Holocaust Awareness week, the Center for Judaic Studies and the Holocaust Awareness Institute present Dr. Oren Steir, speaking about how Nazi symbols of oppression have become symbols of pride for Jews, gays and lesbians. The lecture is May 10 at 7 p.m. It is free and will be in the Newman Center Room 130.
