The Pioneers won their eighth consecutive Sun Belt Conference Championship this past weekend as the team shot 11-over par 875 three-round score at the School Master Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
The No. 44 Pioneers shot a 4-over par 292 in the final round to secure the victory. In the previous two rounds they shot 289 and 294.
DU was able to edge out Middle Tennessee for the top spot on the final day as they finished five strokes back with a 16-over par 280 in the final round.
Senior Elle Givens and sophomore Kelly Drack finished tied for third with 2-over par 218 scores to lead DU. They were named to the 2011 Club Glove Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf All-Conference Team.
The Pioneers had another player in the top ten with freshman Tonje Daffinrud. She tied for ninth with a 5-over par 221.
The win gives the Pioneers a chance to compete at the NCAA West Regional Championship held next weekend, May 5-7.
