The Newman Center for the Performing Arts is home to many astounding performances for both DU students and the surrounding Denver community.

On any night, there will almost always be a performance to watch. During the 23-24 season, the center held over 270 ticketed events. The center continues to grow as they prepare events for the 24-25 season, most notably through its Newman Center Presents programs.

Debuting in 2002, Newman Center Presents invites artists from all over the world to showcase their talents as a way to enrich the culture and community at DU and beyond. This season, they have nine artists performing from January to May, including six-time GRAMMY winner Billy Childs and three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone.

What makes this season so special for the Center is that these artists are not currently available to see elsewhere, providing an intimate, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for each audience member.

The Newman Center Presents season begins on Jan. 25 with “Music from the sole.” This group performance combines the live concert and musical theatre genres to showcase the origins of Afro-Cuban, Afro-Brazilian and many other types of music.

Following ‘Music from the sole,’ Billy Childs takes the stage on Feb. 1. Childs is sure to captivate the audience by performing his GRAMMY-winning album “The Winds of Change.”

Returning to the Newman Center this season is “Dog Man: The Musical.” This performance debuted at the Newman Center last September and is returning on March 8 by popular demand. This performance follows the adventures of Dog Man who is half-man and half-dog.

Ending the Newman Center Presents season is renowned actress and singer Patti LuPone. On May 2, she will be transforming the concert hall into a real-life story as she recalls her experience growing up in America during the 1950s.

The DU community is offered the opportunity to attend any Newman Center Presents show for $15 per ticket. More information on the dates and performances from Newman Center Presents artists can be found here.
