Denver senior defender Molly Little (Tiverton, R.I.) has been invited to the tryouts for the 2021 U.S. Women’s Lacrosse Team from Dec. 4-6. One of 50 invited, Little will compete to be on the roster of the heavy favorites going into the world championships.

Little began her collegiate career at the University of Vermont, where she scored six goals with 10 assists and was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. She then transferred to DU in 2018 where she had 15 goals, five assists, 14 groundballs, 60 draw controls and created 10 turnovers. Little was named to the IWLCA West/Midwest All-Region First Team in 2019 and was the Big East defender of the week for the week of April 23, 2019, and Feb. 17, 2020

Little was also on the Tewaaraton watch-list in 2020—the lacrosse equivalent of the Heisman Trophy— and First Team All-BIG EAST honoree in 2019. Little was a major contributor to Denver’s quarterfinal run in 2019. In 2019, she had 62 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers as well as 37 draw controls in the shortened 2020 season. In her collegiate career of 47 games, Little has 39 points, 55 ground balls, 46 caused turnovers and 159 draw controls. However, to make the team, Little faces stiff competition including 10 players from the 2017 gold medal team, as well as defenders from powerhouses such as Northwestern and the University of North Carolina.

The U.S. has won the past three championships, as well as eight total since they were first held in 1982. The 2021 world championship will have a record-breaking thirty teams and is being held in Towson, Md. This is the first time since 2005 that the championship has been held in the United States, when it was held in Annapolis, Md.

The 2021 World Championships will be held in Towson, Md., from July 7-17.
