DU announced a transition to all online learning today at 2:17 p.m. This change comes in response to the continuing rise of COVID-19 infections in Denver, where the average number of new cases tallies to about 400 a day.

Beginning tomorrow, the university will be operating at alert level orange. This will have a number of significant effects on students, but DU has not decided to send them home. On-campus students may still live and socialize in the residence halls, but gatherings of over 10 people are prohibited. All events will be delivered remotely. Students will still be able to use their meal plans because food services will remain operational until the end of the quarter.

Classes will start transitioning to virtual on Monday, Nov. 9, and all classes will be online on Monday, Nov. 16. During the transitional period, there will be a 20-30% decrease in building occupancy.

The Anderson Academic Commons and Coors Fitness/Ritchie Center will maintain their current working hours, but all events will be moved online.

In response to the increased stress placed on students, DU has stated that “Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence (SAIE) staff will continue to support students, including helping students access physical and mental health care, as well as COVID-19 testing.”
