Hello, my name is Victoria Valenzuela.
I’m a third-year media studies student with minors in intercultural global studies, urban studies and critical race and ethnic studies. I have been a part of the Clarion since my freshman year. I started out as a contributing photographer, and I will leave Executive Editor Emeritus.
The time has come for me to say farewell to the Clarion. I need to move on and allow the publication to flourish. Editor-in-Chief Kiana Marsan and Executive Editor Sara Loughran come in with fresh eyes, having new ideas and the stamina to put their ideas in action and accomplish their goals. Even if fall quarter is online, the two are adept at executing tasks and fulfilling their roles as Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor digitally.
Before I bid you adieu, I’d like to thank my fellow staff members and all of the student contributors who kept the Clarion running during this topsy-turvy year. It may not have been what people signed up for, but everyone was somehow able to adjust accordingly and without complaint. I’m incredibly lucky to have been the Executive Editor of the DU Clarion. It’s equipped me for the future in ways I never could have imagined. But more importantly, I was lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with such inspiring people. Thank you all for inspiring me to do more and more.
Much love,
Victoria V.
