As the first state to legalize recreational cannabis, Colorado sure knows how to celebrate 4/20 right. Here are some of the best events happening on this blessed holiday in and around Denver:
If you’re looking to minimize the 4/20 munchies-damage ahead of time, you can participate in The Mile High 4.20k, an event to promote and raise awareness of the medicinal value of cannabis. But hurry, registration ends 4/16 (even if you don’t register to participate, you could still come to support the cause.)
The Mile High 420 Fest is one of Denver’s biggest 4/20 celebration events, with over 50,000 people in attendance each year. Happening all day long in Civic Center Park, this 100% free event has a lineup of performers including T.I. and Jermaine Dupri, as well as a number of vendors selling cannabis-related products and more.
If you live in south Colorado or you’re looking for an event where you can legally consume cannabis, the SoCo 420 Festival at the Speakeasy Vape Lounge in Colorado Springs may be for you. There’s a great lineup of performers, including Lil Flip and Peezy, as well as a DJ, raffles and much more happening throughout the day.
Enjoy the enhanced creativity that comes with consuming cannabis? Go to The Coffee Joint at 7pm for Creatively Cannabis, a joint (pun-intended) experience of cannabis consumption and painting. Bring your own cannabis and pay only $40 for two step-by-step painting lessons, and you’ll be in good company among many renowned artists whose work was influenced by drug use.
If you’re looking for a little more excitement there are plenty more concerts and shows happening in Denver and beyond, too. Baked! @Your Mom’s House is a “hip-hop brunch,” where you can see performance by artists such as $light Team and King Loot while you dine from a catered brunch bar. If night-time entertainment is what you want, you can see Juicy J at the Ogden or Stick Figure at Red Rocks, and if you want comedy, see Craig Robinson and The Nasty Delicious at the Stanley Hotel.
A happy and safe 4/20 to all, no matter how you choose to spend it.
