The DU Programming Board (DUPB) event, “Coffee and Canvas,” an event with coffee and painting supplies, was a hit for the DU students who wiped out supplies in just two hours.  Will Smock-egan, co-chair on the Classics Committee for DUPB, said that the goal of this event was to “bring the community together, allow people to relax midweek, mid-quarter and facilitate a good time for people to meet each other.” The turnout at this event was very reflective of this goal, as the participants showed creativity through their creations and mingled over their shared love of the atmosphere created by DUPB.

Since these were the main goals of the event, it was set up and carried out in a manner that held a relaxed style. The tables were covered with tablecloths and paint supplies of all colors. There were also, as the name suggests, canvases to showcase the art, snacks and coffee. The event began at 4 p.m. and went until 6 p.m., although it was scheduled until 7 p.m. Smock-egan said the event was cut short because “it went a lot better than expected” and DUPB ran out of supplies.

It was the perfect relaxer as students entered midterms week. The participants were all smiling and left eager for more events similar to this one. Seeking to please this request, Smock-egan mentioned, “Based on the success that we had tonight, we are definitely considering doing this as a quarterly event.” So, if you missed out on the fun this quarter, keep your eyes peeled for the next DUPB event around campus.
