Entering the day with a 10-point, the Denver women’s swim team pulled a strong performance to come back from behind and take a 10 point victory in the dual with Iowa.
Denver’s medley relay opened the race with a strong start, placing second in the 400. The medley team was comprised of redshirt-senior Heidi Bradley (Victoria, B.C.), freshman Brandi Vu (Longmont, Colo.), junior Kylie Cronin (Marblehead, Mass.) and senior Lauren Moden (Parker, Colo.), and finished in 3:44.63.
Bradley followed up her 55.44 in the prior day’s 100 backstroke with a 2:01.51 in the 200 backstroke, touching second.
Sophomore Charlotte Simon (Saint Remy, France) and Vu swept the top two places against Iowa in the 200 breaststroke, touching in 2:20.75 and 2:21.43 respectively.
In the women’s 200 freestyle relay, Bradley, Moden, junior Josie Valette (Boulder, Colo.) and sophomore Aysia Leckie (Georgetown, Ontario) beat Iowa in 0.33 seconds, finishing in 1:34.15.
On the men’s side, the 200 freestyle relay team comprised of sophomore Cameron Aunchinachie (Binghamton, N.Y.), sophomore Jackson Gainer (San Jose, Calif.), junior Hugo Sykes (Weston, Conn.) and sophomore Adriel Sanes (Rosharon, Texas) took second with a time of 1:21.08.
Aunchinachie finished second in the 100 freestyle, touching second in 44.52.
Both the men’s and women’s teams have four weeks off, swimming next in Knoxville for the 2018 Tennessee Invitational.
