Denver Volleyball defeated North Dakota State 25-21, 2-18 and 25-13 to complete their 11th consecutive sweep of the season. The Pioneers’ 18-win streak is the longest winning streak in program history.   

“We did a great job on the defense side today,” said Head Coach Tom Hogan. “The players executed the game plan, and they were very sharp with their eye-work. We improved throughout the match in several areas.”

Denver put up 14 kills in the first set, 11 in the second and 17 in the last set to complete 42 kills overall. Senior Becca Latham (Austin, Texas) led the team, totaling 11 kills and one block. Junior outside hitter Katarina Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia) had nine blocks while sophomore Lydia Bartalo (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied eight kills.

Sophomore Ellie Anderson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) totaled 20 assists against North Dakota State, bringing her career assist total past 1,000. She needs only 289 more assists to break into DU’s top-10 career records.

Senior middle blocker Emma Willis (La Jolla, Calif.) had five blocks, one solo block, over the course of the match. Denver had 10 total blocks against NDSU, with four of the blocks coming in the first set.

Denver plays again against South Dakota State on Friday, Oct. 26. They return home to play Omaha on Sunday, Oct. 28.
