School has started and students are rushing across campus to get to their destination, whether it be class, practice or their favorite lunch spot. As far as transportation around campus goes, most students choose to walk, although bikes, skateboards and the occasional Razor scooter can be spotted zooming by on the pathway. However, DU has brought easier and quicker alternatives to campus such as ofo bikes and Chariot shuttles.
Chariot is a service recently adopted by DU that is operated by professional and insured drivers and is dedicated to reducing traffic flow and pollution in the city. Students can ride in a Chariot at no cost; the service only requires that each individual download the Chariot app on either the Apple or Google Play store and create an account. From there, you put in your start and finish destinations and show your driver your confirmation code when your ride arrives. Implementing the Chariot service is a major step in DU’s journey to becoming more sustainable, as this public transport holds 12-15 passengers and will help decrease DU’s carbon footprint. The destinations one can travel to with Chariot are the DU light rail station, the new administration building, Centennial Towers, Nagel Hall, Mary Reed building and parking lots H1 and H2. A shuttle can be booked from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Shuttles that are accessible to those with disabilities may also be requested.
