On March 31, DU announced the speakers for Spring 2017 Commencement. Similar to previous years, there will be three speakers this year. The undergraduate commencement, graduate commencement and Sturm College of Law commencement will each have their own speaker.
Jim Lentz, a DU alumnus and CEO of Toyota Motor North America will speak at the 2017 undergraduate commencement on June 10. According to the announcement, “Lentz earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and economics and an MBA in finance from DU” and “currently serves on the executive advisory board for DU’s Daniels College of Business.”
Robert Smith, founder, chairman, and CEO of Vista Equity Partners will be the speaker at the 2017 graduate commencement on June 9. “Vista manages equity capital commitments of more than $14 billion and oversees a portfolio of 30 software companies” stated the announcement. “As chairman and CEO, Smith directs Vista’s investment strategy and decisions, firm governance and investor relations.”
Brenda Hollis, DU alumna and prosecutor of the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone will speak at the Sturm College of Law commencement on May 20. “She [Hollis] was appointed [prosecutor of the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone] by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon,” the announcement described. “She also serves as the reserve international co-prosecutor for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, and works as a consultant in international criminal law and procedure.”
