The year of 2015 was full of big moments for music—Adele released “Hello,” we all danced like Drake when “Hotline Bling” dropped and The Beatles discography finally made it on to Spotify. Many new and old artists made the year great, but which artists will reign in 2016? Check out the list below for just a few up-and-coming artists.

Transviolet

Pop has had a bad rap in the past, but 2016 may just be the year when the genre gains the respect it deserves. Electro-pop bands like Californian group Transviolet will help do just that. With highly successful single “Girls Your Age” receiving over 1 million plays on Spotify in 2015, Transviolet will return this year with some dark but dance-inducing tunes.

Space Suits for Indians

Born in the hot summer of 2014, local band Space Suits for Indians is set to do some spectacular things in the Denver music scene this year. Following a well-received album release and a short stint playing shows out west, the indie rock band has a show this month opening for Car Seat Headrest on Jan. 15.

Gallant

Gallant is made of sultry vocals, commanding beats and synths that blend together to create some of the best new R&B out there. Last year, the artist partnered with Zane Lowe, one of the most influential DJs in the world, to release “Weight In Gold.” More recently, Gallant has teamed up with singer songwriter Sufjan Stevens on “Blue Bucket of Gold,” which was released on Jan 6. It’s obvious that Gallant has been up to some incredible endeavors and that 2016 will be his year.

The Japanese House

Some automatically think of club beats and wild synths when the word “electronic” is even mentioned, but the hauntingly beautiful music of The Japanese House is anything but club music. The group’s eerie dark electronic will fill Red Rocks this spring when The Japanese House opens for The 1975 in May. The opening slot will attract thousands of new fans, so it’s safe to say 2016 will be a successful year for The Japanese House.
