From another successful Discoveries Orientation to the grand inauguration of the chancellor, DU has had a great start this year. Hopefully, students continue to strengthen the community and enjoy the opportunities that this campus has to offer. Be sure to pay attention to all the flyers, tables, emails and shout-outs, because DU has a wide array of entertainment events to come.
Denver is full of theater, so be sure to not miss out on any shows. Besides the discounted tickets for the awe-inspiring shows at the Denver Center for Performing Arts, check out the shows on campus this quarter. From Oct. 15-25, the DU Department of Theatre is putting on “Bad Jews,” a comedy about three cousins’ explosive argument after their grandfather’s funeral. Performances will be at JMAC Studios. “Two Rooms,” playing from Nov. 5-15, tells the story of a man held hostage and the imaginary conversations held in the minds of him and his wife. Performances will be at Byron Theatre in the Newman Center.
DU’s Lamont School of Music always has events, ensembles and concerts. Upcoming events throughout fall quarter include performances by student choirs, bands and ensembles, like the Lamont Wind Ensemble and Flo’s Underground. More information about which ensembles are playing and when can be found on their website.
On Oct. 17, Lamont is hosting a full day of events about hip hop and its surrounding culture. Seven Denver hip hop artists will be attending, and there will be a discussion about hip hop and its role in social justice in the afternoon. The day will cap off with a concert in the evening by Hip-Hop Colorado.
From Nov. 5-8, the school of music will be performing Frank Loesser’s “Guys and Dolls,” a classic musical from 1950 about high stakes gambles and seduction. Tickets are already available online and cost anywhere from $11-30.
Pay attention to upcoming seminars, shows, events and opportunities on campus—there’s truly something for everyone.
