On the morning of June 1, Chancellor Chopp sent an email to the DU Community announcing that Assistant Provost for Campus and Community Partnerships in the Center for Multicultural Excellence Johanna Leyba will become Acting Associate Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence and Executive Director of the Center for Multicultural Excellence on July 1.
“Johanna will assume responsibility for leading our many student and outreach initiatives located in CME,” said Chopp in the email. “Johanna has been extraordinarily successful in working with our students, faculty and staff colleagues, and the greater Denver community.”
Chopp also announced on the morning of May 28 that Associate Provost for Inclusive Excellence Dr. Frank Tuitt will become Senior Advisor to the Chancellor and Provost on Diversity and Inclusion on Sept. 1. Tuitt will handle this position while the University continues its search for a Senior Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence, which will be a brand new position at DU.
“In short, we need to get this important position crafted correctly, and we need to take our time in doing so,” said Chopp in the email regarding Tuitt. “We have considered this plan of action with feedback from various groups on campus and have received their support for it.”
