Q: How did you begin playing lacrosse?

A: I have three older brothers who have always pushed me to play every sport. I guess I fell in love with lacrosse when I was in elementary school.

Q: Before high school, what was your competitive experience like?

A: I played about five sports year round. I loved anything that involved competition. Whether I was playing with my family or my friends, I just wanted to be the best. I played club volleyball and club basketball, but lacrosse was newer for Colorado, so club teams were not as established. By middle school, club teams developed and we started to travel.

Q: What were the highlights of your high school career?

A: In high school, the state team and high school team were more relevant than the club team. High school was really fun. I won three out of four state championships with Cherry Creek High School. I was named an All-American my senior year and I set a draw record, as well. 

Q: How did you come to DU?

A: I looked all over the country and when I came back home, I realized what a great fit academically and athletically DU would be. It made sense for me to stay in my city. It was the place that I would enjoy the most.

Q: Has there been a particularly great moment so far this season?

A: These last four weeks, we have really turned everything around. After two big losses, we’ve been practicing harder and we’ve really come together as a team. Our senior day was this past Sunday [April 26], and, even though it was torrential downpour and freezing, the camaraderie was great. It really reflects how our team loves each other. We just really want to win out this season.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do that isn’t lacrosse?

A: I’m a Young Life leader at a local high school. I get to hang out and mentor high school students and that brings me the most joy in life.

Q: What are you goals for after college?

A: I plan on staying in Denver. I love this city and the community I have here. After graduation, I’m going to Europe and Hawaii and I’m leading Young Life groups. I don’t have a job set in stone, but I’m hoping to find a job where I can use the skills I’ve gotten from DU. I’ll still be a Young Life leader and hopefully still be involved in lacrosse.
