“So no one told you life was gonna be this way…” Most people who are fans of the television show “Friends” cannot resist the urge to add the clap, clap, clap, clap to the end of the familiar theme song.
Lucky for fans, “Friends” is now available on Netflix. That’s right. All 236 episodes are available to watch at the click of a button. But for those who do not have the time to watch every single episode (each episode is approximately 22 minutes, so you do the math) here are some of the most memorable moments from each season.
Obviously, we have to start with the first episode, “The One Where Monica Gets a New Roommate.” We are introduced to six friends: Ross, Monica, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Rachel. This episode, while not the best, makes it onto this list because it marked the beginning of a great series. Soon after, viewers were caught up in the hilariously weird friendship that exists between the six characters.
Move into Season 2. In the episode “The One Where Ross Finds Out,” fans were excited to find out that Ross and Rachel had a shot at becoming more than just friends. However, the best part is when Rachel leaves Ross a drunk message saying she is over him, and poor Ross asks, “When were you under me?”
Let’s not forget “The One with the Prom Video.” Even though the ‘80s fashion and fat Monica yielded the most laughter for this episode, most fans can agree that the best moment is when Ross and Rachel kiss and Phoebe gleefully says, “See, he’s her lobster!” which would become one of the most quoted lines from the series.
The highlight from Season 3 is definitely “The One Where No One’s Ready.” The chaos of the episode centers around everyone trying to get dressed and ready for a benefit at the museum where Ross works. Enter underwear stealing, fighting over couch cushions, flying hummus, awkward voice messages, chicken fat and “going commando.”
Season 4 includes episodes like “The One with the Embryos,” where a hilarious battle of the sexes ensues and Phoebe announces she is pregnant after agreeing to be a surrogate mother for her brother and his wife. Another memorable episode is “The One with Ross’s Wedding.” Ross and the gang have all flown out to London for Ross’s wedding, only to have Ross let out a major slip of the tongue during his vows. Ouch.
Season 5 introduces us to a new couple, the phrase “Pivot!” and learning the value of a sandwich. One of the best episodes is “The One with All the Thanksgivings,” because who doesn’t love Monica dancing with a turkey on her head?
Season 6 contains a wild trip to Las Vegas, a trifle with a meaty ingredient, unagi and “The One That Could Have Been.” In this episode, an alternate universe is introduced and shows just how the friends’ lives could have been. Fat Monica makes a comeback.
Season 7 highlights include a certain couple’s wedding (no, it’s not Ross and Rachel), a pregnancy and eating cheesecake off the floor. Season 8 is mostly composed of lots of drama with Rachel, and Season 9 introduces a baby (watch to find out who’s the mother!)
Like all good things, “Friends” had to come to an end. Season 10 played with our emotions, and the series finale was no exception. In this episode, a plane’s “left phalange” contributed to Ross and Rachel’s ever-evasive relationship, and the episode ends with the friends leaving their apartment keys on the counter of Monica’s empty apartment—one by one.
All of these were very heartfelt and funny moments. Lucky for us, we can now relive every episode.
