Over the weekend, the No. 26 DU’s women’s lacrosse team defeated the University of Oregon 11-5 to go undefeated in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The win solidifies the Pioneers’ regular season title.

For the second consecutive season and for the fifth time in the past eight seasons, Denver remained undefeated in the MPSF conference. With the win at Oregon, Denver is now preparing for the MPSF Tournament as the No. 1 seed.

Denver goalie and redshirt junior Hannah Hook made 14 saves against Oregon and was also nominated for the Tewaarton Award. The most prestigious honor in lacrosse, the Tewaarton honors the top men and women lacrosse players in the nation. Pioneer junior Jill Remenapp is also a nominee. The 14th annual Tewaarton Award Ceremony will be held May 29 in Washington D.C.

Attacking Oregon, Denver started off the game with an early lead as sophomore Rachael McKinnon earned a hat trick in the first three minutes. McKinnon finished the game totaling four points.
Senior Jenn Etzel also brought in four points for Denver on two goals and two assists.

Oregon and Denver were close in draw controls, but Denver had a slight 10-8 edge, helping propel them to victory.

Denver is set to host the MPSF Tournament at the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium May 1-4. Entering as the No. 1 seed, Denver earned a bye until the semi-final game on Friday, May 2. Oregon, Stanford, San Diego State, USC and Colorado will all be in attendance.
