The men’s soccer team will advance to the Summit League Championship after a 5-0 win over Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on Friday.
The victory extended DU’s winning streak to six games, a new school record, as well as tied a school record for most wins in a season with 12, leaving them with a 12-3-3 season overall.
Senior Zach Bolden had a particularly strong showing for the Pioneers, recording a hat trick and an assist in the game. Bolden’s strong game also placed him at the top of several DU records lists. He now holds the record for most career points (29), single-season goals (10) and single-season assists (9) according to Denver Athletics.
“It was a great team win and it felt good to help the team by scoring a few goals,” said Bolden. “More importantly, we are a step closer to accomplishing one of our goals with the game on Saturday.”
The team scored three goals in the first half, all within 10 minutes of each other with two goals by Bolden and one by sophomore midfielder Karsten Hanlin.
The Summit League Tournament Championship Match will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. against the winner of Oral Roberts and Western Illinois.
