The team huddles before a NCAA tournament game against Florida last year.

Coming off of an 18-3 overall record from 2013, the DU Women’s Lacrosse Team is expected to have another impressive year.

After a 15 game winning streak last season, the Pioneers are already preparing for their first official season game on Feb. 2 at Vanderbilt University. Although the season does not technically begin until the winter, the team will be competing in an exhibition season this fall. The exhibition starts in October and will consist of five games, most of which will be played at Denver, and one tournament in Annapolis, Md.
The exhibition season will open with Denver hosting CU Boulder at Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Oct. 2 and the Pioneers will also take on Regis on Oct. 6 at home. The exhibition season will wrap up on Oct. 26 with Denver facing Colorado State at Barton Stadium.

Denver ended their 2013 season being ranked No. 13 in the RPI, No. 15 in the daBeer Media Poll and No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaching Association Coaches’ Poll.

Nine freshmen have been added to Denver’s roster and should be key players to look out for this year. Top returning players, including senior Karen Secora, sophomore Jill Remenapp and junior Jenn Etzel are also expected to help carry the team again this year as well.
