For those who have been to the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., the appeal of the games lies far beyond the actual athletic events. While watching Shaun White, Mark McMorris, Levi LaVallee and Simon Dumont fly through the air is certainly a great draw to many, the general environment and free “schwag” is sure to attract others. Every year, the base area is covered in booths, and organizations like ESPN, Otterbox, Red Bull and even the United States Navy set up displays to attract visitors and give away free items.

As visitors shuffle over the base of Buttermilk Mountain, one of four Aspen-area ski mountains, music blasts from towers set up around the booths or perhaps from a concert. This year, DJ Calvin Harris headlined the event, treating fans to a show at the base of the big air jump on Saturday. On mountain isn’t the only place to find good shows, though; Belly Up Aspen, a local bar and favorite concert venue, hosted rapper Tyler the Creator this year, among other artists.
