Ambassador Hill to speak at men’s lax fall celebration dinner

Christopher Robert Hill, U.S. Ambassador and current Josef Korbel School of International Studies Dean, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Fourth Annual University of Denver Men’s Lacrosse Fall Celebration Dinner on Saturday at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center.

Hill served as the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq from April 2009 to August 2010, joining DU in September of 2010.

He is a career member of the Foreign Service whose prior assignment was Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

“In our first three years at DU, our staff and team have experienced some very memorable moments,” said DU head coach Bill Tierney.

“The facilities, support and academic opportunities presented to our players allow them to succeed as student athletes. Having a lacrosse fan like Chris Hill, however, affords us a very special opportunity to combine our passion for the sport with the ability to enhance the education our young men receive at the University of Denver.”

Earlier on Saturday, the annual alumni game will take place at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, beginning at 10 a.m. Following the game, the Pioneers will take on the Denver Outlaws in the Fourth Annual Colorado Lacrosse Showcase at 1 p.m.
