What went right:
The Pioneers swept Texas Arlington in their home opener on Thursday night behind 12 kills each from senior Faime Kingsley and junior Colleen King. The two also combined for 12 blocks. Senior libero Lyndi Johnson tallied nine digs, and sophomore Bailey Karst recorded 36 assists for Denver. The Pioneers led the Mavericks in blocks 10-4.
On Saturday, Denver posted another sweep against the Lady Techsters at home. Freshman Michelle Swope and redshirt sophomore Cassie Ronda each tallied 12 kills, and Karst and sophomore Frances Carroll recorded 22 assists apiece.
What went wrong:
On Thursday, the Pioneers fell behind 4-1 in both the first and second sets before getting into their rhythm. Denver also allowed Maverick Taylor Gross to record a game-high 16 kills.
Up next:
The Pioneers will return to the road Tuesday at Air Force for a 7 p.m. match. Denver remains on the road for the next two weeks before returning home on Oct. 11 against Texas State.
