The Daniels College of Business will be hosting its third annual Inclusive Excellence Committee competition on May 18, which will allow teams of students to compete in developing an inclusive and diversity-oriented case proposal for scholarship prizes.
The event is aimed to assist in the advancement of diversity and inclusiveness at Daniels and throughout the DU community. This is a goal the Inclusive Excellence community at Daniels has been working to achieve since it was introduced in 2006, according to co-chair of the Committee, David Corsun.
Six teams made up of four students, a total of 24, will participate in the competition by writing case proposals in response to cases submitted by Charles Schwabb. The proposals will be judged by panelists from the three corporate sponsors of the event. Charles Schwabb will act as the corporate sponsor of the competition, while CISCO will sponsor the lunch and Century Link will sponsor the VIP reception to follow the affair. The VIP reception will host the corporate representatives and thank them for their efforts.
The 1st place team will receive a $6,000 scholarship prize, sponsored by Charles Schwabb, to be divided among the four competitors. Second place will receive $4,000 and 3rd place will receive $2,000.
The students’ case proposals will be judged on likelihood of success and depth of thought by a panel of Charles Schwabb representatives who will attend the event.
The competition on May 18 will host staff and students of Daniels, university students, representatives of the corporations in cooperation with the event and members of the community working on issues of diversity within the community.
“We hope to make Daniels a place where no matter who you are or what you’re like, you feel safe as a part of the community so you can be your whole self within the college,” said Corsun.
