The Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management and the Highlands Ranch Golf Club are working to form a new partnership within the next month that will assist HRTM students in getting internships, consulting opportunities and jobs, according to David Corsun, director of the Knoebel School.

The new opportunities will be available this summer and continue through the 2012-13 school year.

The plan is still being formulated, but Corsun said he hopes to see the implementation of it within the next month.

The next meeting will be at Highlands Ranch in the next few weeks.

The Highlands Ranch Golf Club was donated to DU on Aug. 24, making it the home of the men’s and women’s golf teams. The Highlands Ranch staff already collaborated with the athletic department but, according to Corsun, it wants to expand their relationship to include the rest of the university.

“This opportunity is a collaboration for the Highlands Ranch Golf Club, HRTM and the students,” he said. “It is all for the benefit of the school.”

Corsun said he believes the relationship between the Knoebel School and the Highlands Ranch Golf Club will be open-ended with lots of hope for the upcoming years.

“For how old of a campus DU is, we are so entrepreneurial,” he said. “We have the freedom to search out and create these opportunities that are beneficial to everyone.”
