What has 21-year-old Chris Brown, also known as Breezy, been up to since pleading guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend and singer Rihanna? Apparently the R&B artist has been busy writing for his recently released album F.A.M.E., Brown’s fourth studio album since 2009’s lackluster Graffiti, was released on March 22. The album consists of the already-popular dance track “Yeah 3X” which was released in October, and Grammy-nominated “Deuces”, which came out in June 2010.

Brown collaborates with artists Tyga, Ludacris and even Justin Bieber on his newest album, raising the question of whether or not Breezy is attempting to mend his reputation by appealing to a younger crowd.

Brown has deemed F.A.M.E. an acronym for “Forgiving All My Enemies,” yet with his recent outburst at Good Morning America, one has to question whether he should be the one asking for forgiveness.

The newly blond and tattoo-clad artist has matured vocally from 2005’s “Run It!” yet his reputation has gone through numerous trials and tribulations, making it difficult for people to buy into or even care about his music.

Although Breezy seems to find himself constantly stuck in the middle of tabloid controversy, the songwriter showcases his talented vocals on the latest album, which offers him some positive fame, if only for a moment.

The fourth track, “Look At Me Now,” has already seen consistent radio play and features an impressive rap sequence from both Brown and Busta Rhymes.

“She Ain’t You” sounds reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature,” an artist that clearly had an impact on Brown, which was revealed during his emotional performance at the 2010 BET Awards. Brown fell to his knees in tears while singing “Man In the Mirror” during a tribute to the King of Pop.

Love ballads “Up 2 You”, “All Back” and “Should’ve Kissed You” sound like the Breezy we used to know from singles like “With You” and “Forever.” Bieber’s vocal assistance in “Next 2 You” makes for arguably the weakest track on the album, yet dire Bieber fans might disagree.

The dance track “Beautiful People” is a euro-techno number that is definitely different from Brown’s typical style, yet shows the artist evolving in a new direction.
