KVDU, the campus radio station, will be back on the Internet later this quarter with 12 to 15 shows per week, after problems last quarter shut the station down.

In its rebuilding effort, the station has two major priorities. The first is to change its image with the campus and build up morale among its members, and the second is to fundraise.

“The biggest thing we’re trying to do is create a whole new atmosphere for KVDU,” said senior Jack Reis, station co-manager.

Reis wants to bring the station back to its roots and create a feeling of family among those who host radio shows.

The station is also working on fundraising efforts to pay for its current operation and to pay back the money it currently owes DU from buying the rights to play songs. They will be selling KVDU t-shirts on the Driscoll Bridge this week to raise money.

Last quarter, problems with the transfer of leadership information from one station manager to the next resulted in the station being shut down. The current management team is working to rebuild the station after its temporary hiatus and to make it stronger.

“We’re kind of rebuilding from scratch,” said senior Claire Delahorne, station co-manager.

Of the 12 to 15 shows the station is hosting this quarter, approximately 10 are with new DJs. Reis and Delahorne want to continue to encourage participation.

“Radio is still fun,” said Delahorne. “It’s a creative outlet you don’t need any experience in.”

KVDU meetings, open to all students, are held on Mondays at 6 p.m. in the Driscoll Commons.
