Meditation at Evans Chapel

Zimbabwe lecture

Edward Antonio will lead a discussion titled “Is It Possible to be Human in Zimbabwe?” courtesy of the Joseph Korbel School of International Studies on Wednesday in room 454 in Sturm Hall from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

The event will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with panel presentations, lunch and discussion groups on humanity in Zimbabwe in the Great Hall at the Iliff School of Theology at 2201 S. University Blvd. Panel presentations will also take place on Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Global journalism conference

“Globally Speaking: Voices, Visions and Viewpoints” will take place Thursday in the Driscoll Student Center starting at 9:30 a.m.

The event’s luncheon, which starts at noon, will honor the 2008 DU Anvil of Freedom award recipient Global Voices Online, a citizens’ media project, and its co-founder, Ethan Zuckerman.

Guest speakers, including academics, film producers and other communications professionals will present sessions throughout the day on cultural communication from global perspectives.

The Morgridge College of Education will host the 2009 Alumni Signature Event Series Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Chambers Center. Featured speaker Camila Alire, a distinguished DU alumni, will present “Current Trends in American Libraries.”

Vietnamese New Year celebration

The Vietnamese Student Association will host “A Lunar New Year” next Saturday, Feb. 14 from 5 to 10 p.m. in Sturm Hall’s Davis Auditorium.

The traditional Vietnamese celebration will benefit Save the Children, and the event will feature Vietnamese singers, cultural acts, dance programs and a fashion show. Vietnamese food will be served.
