Empowering studentsOn Wednesday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., in Sturm 251, Jonathan Mooney, will be speaking about how to empower students who learn differently. Mooney is the co-author of “Learning Outside the Lines,” and was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD as an elementary school student and was unable to read until the age of 12. He went on to graduate with an honors degree in English Literature from Brown University. This event is free and open to the public.

Hunger banquetDU Law Amnesty International is hosting a Hunger Dinner next Friday, November 11 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Law School Forum. Tickets are $10, all proceeds benefit the Denver Rescue Mission; please purchase tickets at the law school or Driscoll next week from 12-1 p.m., or email bheise08@law.du.edu. This event is based on the Oxfam poverty/hunger dinners. When people arrive at the dinner, they are going to be divided into three groups. The groups are based on percentages of world income classes, with a small percentage being in the upper class, a slightly bigger group in the middle class, and a larger group in the lower class. Each group is fed according to their class status, at tables that also befit their class. We will be featuring Amy Eckert, a professor at Metro, who will speak about world-wide hunger issues.
Texas hold’emOn Friday Nov. 11 at 6 p.m., all are welcome to register for a No-Limit Hold’em Poker Tournament to be held in Driscoll Ballroom.
