ALTERNATIVE SPRING VACATIONS GIVE STUDENTS A WORTHWHILE BREAK
Midterm holidays may be just around the corner, but one Denver travel operator is looking ahead to offer 2006 spring break trips with a difference.
i-to-i, the meaningful travel specialist, has launched a series of short-term volunteer vacations (lasting one to three weeks) designed to give university students the chance to do something worthwhile.
Instead of heading to traditional haunts such as Cancun or Florida, with i-to-i, students can spend their spring break building homes for underprivileged families in Honduras, protect sea turtles in Costa Rica or venture off to Guatemala for lake conservation work to name but a few projects!
The trips are tailor-made to fit in with school and university holiday, with trips running between March 5-27* 2006.
Marshall England, Marketing Manager for i-to-i says: “These trips mean students can use their spring breaks to do something more meaningful, gain a better understanding of themselves and make new friends from all over the world along the way. It’s the perfect time for students to get involved with global community work or help the environment. Plus volunteer work and international travel is a great addition to any resume.”
As well as organizing around 500 volunteer projects across the globe, i-to-i also provides online training for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), to enable people to share their language skills overseas. The company is dedicated to helping disadvantaged communities and ecosystems around the world, while offering travelers a unique cultural immersion experience. Founded in 1994 with its headquarters in Leeds, England, i-to-i has four offices globally in USA, Australia, the UK and Ireland. Although spring break is the most popular time for taking alternative break trips, there are also fall, winter and summer trip opportunities and registration for these trips is open year-round. Student groups wishing to participate in a fall, winter or summer break trips, can see what’s on offer at www.i-to-i.com
The cost for each student participating in an i-to-i alternative spring break start at $995 which includes food and accommodation, travel insurance and airport pick up. i-to-i also offers fundraising advice to help students subsidize the cost of the project.
