The Denver men’s lacrosse team dominated in Washington D.C. over the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday afternoon, winning 7-3 to improve their record to 7-5.

To open the game, senior goalie Malcolm Kleban made four massive saves to keep Denver alive on the defensive end.

At 7:32, senior attacker Noah Manning put Denver on the board with a low inside goal assisted by sophomore attacker Cody Malawsky. Manning then buried another top-shelf goal at 5:32 in the first quarter to extend Denver’s lead to 2-0.

Georgetown came out hot in the second period with a faceoff win transitioned to a goal, putting the Hoyas on the scoreboard. Senior midfielder Mic Kelley answered with a left handed goal at 10:25 in the second quarter.

Denver made some massive stops on the defensive end to keep Georgetown with only one goal. As the shot clock ran out, Manning made a diving goal in between the keeper’s legs to further Denver’s lead to 4-1.

Senior faceoff specialist Michael Kraus started the second half off with a faceoff win, leading to a powerful shot by Denver. Big East point leader Aidan Carroll of Georgetown tightened the score to 4-2 to open up the second half.

At 4:59, sophomore midfielder Lucas Klokiw buried the ball into the Hoyas’ goal to increase Denver’s lead by three. In the final minutes of the third quarter, Georgetown scored above Klebans’ shoulder to compress Denver’s lead to 5-3.

Early in the fourth quarter Manning scored his fourth goal of the game assisted by Kelly. Denver’s man-down defense made massive stops to keep the Hoyas from scoring.

Driving up from the left elbow, Malawsky shot a bouncer to make the score 7-3. With three remaining minutes Georgetown called a timeout to try and reconnect their offense. This was no match for Denver’s defense as they shut out the Hoyas in the final quarter.

Denver will now set their sights on winning their next game on home turf. They will play at 3:00 p.m. on April 19 at Peter Barton Stadium against Providence.
