After the first two rounds of the Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, the Pioneer men’s golf program sits in second place out of 15 teams.
The team posted a score of 295 (+7) on Monday, bringing their two-round score to 582 (+6).
Senior Jordan Burgess shot a team-best even-par 72 to bring his two-day total to a one-under 143. He currently sits tied for third place, five strokes behind tournament leader Rodolfo Cazaubon of North Texas.
“I’m proud of the way the guys battled today,” said head coach Eric Hoos on Sunday. “I’m not sure if anyone had their A-game today, but we fought hard.”
Negatives
The Pioneers sit three strokes behind No. 35 North Texas heading into the tournament’s final day on Tuesday.
What’s next
The Lone Star Invitational will conclude with Tuesday’s final round. Play is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The team will next compete at the 6th Annual Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., Oct. 29-31.

Positives
Junior Tonje Daffinrud led the No. 28 Pioneer women’s golf team with a career-best opening round of 68 (-4) on Monday.
The Pioneers are in fifth place as a team after the first round at 290 (+2).
