Jumping off cliffs, amazing tricks, skiing/boarding upside down, backwards, on rails, over houses, trees, almost anything.

This is just a taste of what you will see in the new “Transworld Live” film, which is touring college campuses through February. The film will be shown at DU Jan. 27 at 8:00 p.m. in Sturm Auditorium, thanks to the Alpine Club. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Driscoll information desk, or the night of the show.

This film is truly unreal. It is made by a collaboration of some of the best independent filmmakers in the industry. The all-star roster includes Matchstick Productions, Poor Boyz Productions, Standard Films, Teton Gravity Research and Treetop Films.

ESPN commentator Sal Masekela, who interviews the directors of each company and presents the most progressive footage of freestyle skiing/snowboarding to date, hosts the film.

Some of the stunts will have you rubbing your eyes wondering if that was possible. For example, Dan Gardner’s record-breaking 211-foot jump, or the first ever back flip performed on a snow machine by Jim Rippey. Not impressed yet?

How about JP Auclair defying gravity in the “snow loop” – a 360-degree roller coaster of snow, or Snowboarder Scotty Wittlake sliding down 42 wooden stairs and nailing the landing.

These are just some of the highlights. There are other amazing stunts like Brad Holmes jumping through the uprights of a field goal then spiking his ski. Watch as both skiers and snowboarders catch huge air in the half pipes, jumps and off cliffs.B

The footage is from around the globe and shows the best boarders and skiers in the world. They push themselves to the limit as they attempt to perform stunts never before seen.

There is equal footage from parks and backcountry, each providing adrenaline-pumping stunts. A diverse soundtrack backs the footage. It contains a number of new artists including: Adema, The Calling, Dope, Greyboy, Lit, Trick Turner, and original music by the athletes themselves.

If the film itself isn’t enough to draw you in, then possibly the free prizes will persuade you. Giveaways include skis, video games, CD’s, and a grand prize of a spring-break trip for 12 to five Colorado resorts. This is definitely an event that any boarder or skier won’t want to miss. It’s the next best thing to actually being on the mountain.
